You know what? time isn’t smiling on any of us, especially you! So instead of trawling through endless depressive, whiny and self-righteous posts from your internet “friends” you could be doing stuff that’s a lot more awesome, like building your body into a fat burning machine or learning something that betters you.
In this article I want to share with you the 3 ways of approaching your training, nutrition and mindset so you can not only be more awesome today, but for years to come.
Mindset – You can only control 3 things
It goes without saying that the world today is a different place. Gone are the days you would just have fun, enjoy the company of family and friends and have a meal without taking pictures of it.
And with that comes a slurry of information, opinions and downright lies, so much so that people are left confused, angry or both.
People often get stressed about politics, religion, sport and what colour a goddamn dress is.
But the truth is, apart from the dress which is clearly white and gold, you have little power over the other areas and what people believe to be true. So instead of trying to argue or change opinions (which never happens) you have to understand one thing – you can only control 3 things
Those 3 things are – Your thoughts, your words and your actions
If someone doesn’t agree with you it’s not your responsibility to change their mind, instead lead by example and hope that others may follow.
Training – Variety is the spice of life
You know what I’m a creature of habit. I enjoy having routine in my day or I can easily slip into a procrastination coma for hours only to then feel frustrated at my lack of progress in life, love and work.
But within my routine I need chaos. Meaning I need to have flexibility to do what I want rather than have a rigid set of things to complete through the day. This is never more true than in my training, which is why I have spent years creating Realfit X.
You may end up a jack of all trades and master of none, but unless you train to compete at a high level sport you’re missing so much by just doing one type of
training or activity.
You should be able to run, jump, lift heavy objects, get up and down from the floor and do it all with minimal to no pain or discomfort. Eventually age catches up with us all, but if you are going to live a life of mediocrity that time may come quicker for you my friend.
Your body is a gift, so use it or lose it!
Nutrition – It’s your fault you look like a potato
I know some doctor on TV, in a magazine or on socials has told you you have a special reason that you are a lazy swine, but trust me when I tell you this – YOUR waistline is YOUR fault.
It’s not your family, your friends or your emotional needs, it’s your lack of control and drive to improve. After spending the better part of 2 decades watching the fitness space I learned that most people NEED the ailments associated with their poor dietary choices.
It’s easier to say you have a problem then actually addressing it, but the truth is always this – If you want something bad enough, you’ll work hard for it.
So there is little reason to beat yourself up about not looking like your favorite sexy celebrity, because whether you have a body you’re proud of or not it’s because you have or haven’t followed the correct mesures to do so.
So if you decide to make a change then make it, own it and accept it won’t be easy, it’s simple but never easy. Set some standards and stick to them. Make your day based around your choices and if you slip up dont cry about it, get back on the horse and carry on the journey.
You’re not weak willed, you just don’t have a big enough reason for it yet, that’s cool but when you do, watch how quickly you change everything to achieve your goal.
Own your nutrition or let it own you, it’s all your fault.
Being better doesn’t mean you need to tell people about it, it’s an internal drive to improve yourself physically and mentally. You don’t need to be perfect but by being better you help lift those around you and create a happier and healthier environment to all grow from
You don’t need to agree with me, but you do need to decide what you want for
your health and fitness. Stop making excuses and just be awesome.
