Family Activities that benefit everyone

​​Walk or Cycle instead of driving:​​

​​Bike or walk to the shops, to school or to friends’ houses. Go for a 30-minute family walk after dinner instead of heading straight for the television. Try and get 10,000 steps every single day or track everyone’s steps and try to add more distance each week.

​​Swimming:

​​Swimming is a great way to exercise. Whether you’re outside at the beach or indoors at the local swimming pool, it is a great choice for a low-impact workout. Swimming will give you a full body workout – no matter what your ability, you will be able to improve your cardiovascular endurance, exercising in the pool for 30 mins is as good as 45 mins of exercise on land.

​​Games in the garden or in a park:​​

​​Going outside and playing any kind of sports is a great form of exercise for all the family. Whether that’s football, rounders, basketball or any other sports, they are all great ways to have fun and have a great workout. Even just playing simple things such as catch or tag will make you work up a sweat and burn calories. Try and go outside to play for 30 minutes a day and you’ll see the benefits. Just getting out the house is not only great for your physical health but for your mental health too.
